Announcement of #EOSHackathon 1 Video Pitch Competition Winners

We at Block.one have been amazed by the response we’ve received from the EOSIO community since announcing our EOS Global Hackathon, a first-of-its-kind series of global blockchain hackathons running from June through December. We’ve committed over US$1,500,000 in awards across all the events to support a decentralized global community building on the EOSIO platform.

EOS VC and the Block.one Developer Relations team are due to host the inaugural event in Hong Kong, June 9–10. Our video pitch contest has ended – but there’s still time to register and participate in the kick-off hackathon.

We want to take this opportunity to extend a huge thanks to everyone who entered the contest. Submissions came from more than 20 countries around the world, with teams pitching ideas across multiple industries – from ecommerce to transportation, healthcare, and government. The standard of entries was astonishingly high and we are humbled that so many of you want to build on the EOSIO platform.

The contest was our way of enhancing global community participation: There are only four hackathon cities, but we want to see involvement from hackers, developers and entrepreneurs around the world. The Block.one team has picked five winners to receive travel stipends for up to five team members to participate in the Hong Kong Hackathon.

Without further ado, the winners of the Hackathon 1 Video Pitch Competition are:

• Drops – Non Profit Donation Tracking on the Blockchain
• Armada – Dropshipping Blockchain Platform
• iRespo.com – Certificates Stored on the Blockchain
• Loan-Block – A Decentralized, Peer-to-Peer Bank Application
• Bee Social – A blockchain platform that connects volunteers, commercial companies, and nonprofits
